Hooray!!! and a little bit of this and that...

Little Bree is just darling.
She came on the 12th, her Great-Great Opa Arie Allart's birthday. Ari stayed at Grandma and Grandpa Turpin's.
She was having a great time.
Keith, Great Oma, (my Mom) and I stayed at Turpin's
for a while as we waited to see Bree.
Laura's parents are wonderful people and very gracious.

Opa and Great Oma with Bree.

David Mahonrimoriancumer's birthday, (see previous blog)
and the day of the garage door install. Yep, it is green!
We were also having mechanical work done.
This is the pool equipment room.
And yes, we hired someone else to do part of the work.

July 23 - 24
For Susan Tweed's birthday she wanted to go camping.
So we went to Granite Flats in American Fork Canyon,
and hiked through Timp Cave.
I think Kelsy took the prize for being the most dirty.
Yours truly made all the way without needing to be carried!
(That made it easier for Keith, and less embarrassing for me.)

David Says....

"Just add a beard to that last picture and you've got me now.
Sure haven't changed much!!"

Well, what do you think?

P.S. Thanks Sarah for the last picture.

Happy Birthday to David

Well, well, well... Happy Birthday to my oldest little boy. I was very excited to have this little munchkin. He was magic to me. In those days we stayed in the hospital for along time - 5 days, then he was able to come home. I thought I knew how to bathe a new baby, but David didn't understand my method and he would swallow water, and then sputter. Then I would get all concerned. For you newer mommies out there: I didn't have a fancy tub, I washed him in a small basin when he was little. David was and is a handsome person. First, David is a marvelous son. He is easy to talk with and fun to be around. Next is he is a good husband to Sarah, you'll need to ask her for more details. He is a fantastic father to his three boys and a wonderful uncle. David works hard to provide for his family and is active in his church callings. He has a fantastic sense of humor and can argue the socks off of anyone. I love being his mother, and Dad loves being there for him as well.
Here David is 4 months old, wearing the little outfit I made for him.
And then eight months old.
David at his first birthday with Mom. Do you see the curls? His hair was so thick that it gave me blisters when I cut his hair the first time.

David at 3 years of age.

David 5 years old.

Isn't he handsome? I sure love my little (big) boy. Happy Birthday David!

Tea Party

Today I had a "Tea Party" for my grand-daughters. Ari was very excited to receive a card just for her. She liked the bow on it. Cirrus was excited to be invited to a "Tea Party". Here they are looking very grownup and pretty in their dresses. We had soy wrapped chicken salad, cantaloupe, sugar-coated grapes (they look fancy), and orange herbal tea. For dessert we had cream puffs. Both girls had fun.
Opa was concerned about Crimsel being involved in such a girly thing. Crimsel helped set the table and get everything ready while the "ladies" visited in the living room. After they sat down he helped serve.
Here Cirrus is washing the sugar off her grapes. Ari washed the sugar off of her grapes too. Too much sugar is just too much sugar, Oma.
After tea we all played "Go Fish!" I had a wonderful time.

Playing Sarah's Game

This little game works for any of us in our family... Just leave a comment and make sure you say who the memory is about...

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

A Day with Oma

On Monday I happened to have a "free" afternoon. I called Emma to see if I could pick up the kids to give her some alone time. Surprise, it would be all right. After I had a PB and honey sandwich at their house we took off to the airport to mail Elliot's b-day card. Then we watched some airplanes. When we arrived at Oma's house laundry needed to be folded. Cirrus already knows how to fold and Crimsel was anxious to fold as well. Great job kids! We then played "Go Fish!"

After a short nap Cirrus helped Oma find the canning jars, lids, and canner. She also discovered David's and Dirk's old stick horses I had made. By this time Crimsel was awake and it was time to sort the apricots. They did a wonderful job sorting and putting fruit in the jars. The best was tasting the apricots.

While the apricots were processing the horsies were taken for a ride. Soon they came in for apples, and then went back out to munch and ride.

Cirrus and Crimsel with the processed jars they helped to pack. Thank you, to two wonderful helpers and a job well done!

Surprise for Keith

I was poking around the inter net looking for a teacher at Roosevelt Elementary when I saw a section called "Roosevelt's 100 Years!" Look at what I found! A picture of the old school where Keith's Dad taught sixth grade.Whoops, I stand corrected. This picture below is the school building where he taught. There is even a third building on the same lot with the same name. The district is good at building a new school with the same name on a different part of the lot. And a picture Keith's Dad, Earl Widdison, in a faculty picture 1962-1963. Hey, I was in fifth grade then. If you can't tell he is the tall ,white haired teacher on the back row. Interestingly enough the man who measured our garage door specifically came back after he left, to ask us if we knew an Earl Widdison. He was disappointed as a kid because he wanted to be in Mr. Widdison's class at Roosevelt Elementary. Dad Widdison loved teaching and from many reports, like the one I shared, he was an excellent teacher. It was fun to discover Dad on the inter net
