Quilt Blocks

Alex is getting married in May. The bride's mother has asked us all to send a quilt block. Sounds like a fun tradition they have in their family.

Keith's is the paisley with his mother's "W". Mine is the windmill. David's is the tie-dye "W", Dirk's is the purple paisley "W", and Emma's is the "O". They were fun to make.

Little Scientist

This past week we've been assisting Emma by getting Cirrus to preschool and then picking her up. I ask Cirrus if she wants to go home or go to Oma's school. She wants to come to school. She helps by putting "A"s on papers, sometimes circling the "A" and occasionally putting a smiley face on a paper. She informed me that she was teaching me how to write "A"s. She makes me smile. We are studying micro-organisms, and learning how microscopes work. She loves to look in the microscope and adjust it. She then asks if I want to look at what she has been looking at. I love how she is interested in so many things.

The Week After Conference

On Monday we had an impromptu reunion at Chuck-a-Rama. Keith, Cousin Shirley, Susan, Rick, Cecelia, and Aunt Myrtle.

Tuesday we ate at our friends' Thai Restaurant. Their son DJ came home from his mission on Friday.

On Wednesday was my 25 Year Service Dinner for Granite School District. I received a lovely faux gold pin. Here I am with fellow teacher Joy Newsome. Her husband, John, is a son of a family that lived in the old 24th Ward. His Aunt Janice gave me hand embroidered dish towels in 1976. What a small world!

As usual we worked on the house, and even had a little help from kidlets with new gloves. They are picking up scraps from wiring. Afterwards we ate hot dogs in the camper. Emma and Jon were out for their anniversary. We had a fine time.

On Sunday, (Happy Anniversary Emma and Jon!) we had the Mission Report from DJ with a full Thai dinner at their ward house.

All in all it was a great week with a full schedule.

Two Richards

We were very fortunate to have both of our brothers, Richard and Richard, come for General Conference this year. Keith's brother, Rick, and his family stayed with Mom Allart. This gave them a handy place to park, and provided walking distance to conference and back. They participated in the banana split event, and generally had a good visit. Here is Matt and Alice.

Jana had a friend from the Boston area come for General Conference as well. This is Gail. She is a Jewish convert, and has been a member for four years. They were very blessed in being able to obtain a seat for every session except Priesthood Conference.
