Santa at Church?

Today at church some little kids walked up to Keith and asked him if he was Santa.  He said that his name was Keith.  The children told him their first names.  Then Keith told them their last name.  Their eyes became large as they stared at him.  Keith was telling me this in the chapel when Sister Reusch walked by and said there were three children in the Starcrest Ward talking about seeing Santa at church.  Gotta love it.

Nov. 2010 Mrs. Widdisons's Laundry Room Door

When we sold the 521 Arctic place, it was hard to walk away. It was the house that Grandma and Grandpa William Widdison lived in, and subsequently Uncle Joe and Aunt Virginia, and then Keith. We were allowed to take what ever we wanted from the home, because it was to be demolished. We took doors and trim, kitchen cabinets, lighting...

This is the old back door, leading from the kitchen. When Keith lived there it had a red curtain on it. The door was pretty weathered and hammered. We thought about leaving it behind, but I wanted it.

Keith did a lot of work in helping me glue the cracked panels together, and lengthening the door. I spent a lot of time filling in small holes and sanding, fill in and sand some more. We put several coats of paint on the door, and decided on hardware, and what type of glass. I wanted seeded glass. Keith installed the hardware, and placed the glass. One day as he was working, he said, "This is the door my grandma would use to do the laundry." The washing machine was on the enclosed back porch at the time. It is now installed as the current laundry room door. Hence, Mrs. Widdisons's laundry room door. I think it is gorgeous.

Here is one of the other doors that we worked on and restored. These doors are solid wood. When the door was finished we installed it in the master bathroom. It takes a lot of time to refinish the doors, but the memories are priceless, and they look great.

How About October 2010?

I guess we are skipping right into Halloween time. Isn't that what is being displayed in the stores right now? Halloween Decor.

On Wednesday, October 27th, Emma's ward did their Trunk-or-Treat activity. There was snow on the ground, and poor Xani's little nose was red.

Crimsel was a pirate, and Cirrus a Princess with lots of blue eye makeup!

What's this? It looks like two-headed creature!

On Thursday, we had a class party. They love creating mummies out of one of their classmates and toilet paper.

Almost finished!


On Saturday we went to Dirk's ward for their Trunk-or-Treat. The weather was nice. Crazy Utah weather. As the saying goes, "If you don't like the weather wait five minutes..."

September 2010

In September Keith started making sure the Christmas lights would be ready to go for December. Much easier to do when there isn't snow on the ground.

We entered a picture Crimsel took of Cirrus in the State Fair. He took it a couple of years ago.

There were lots and lots of pictures, even in the youngest age division. I call this picture 'big eyes'. It is one of my favorite pictures. Good job Crimsel.

Crimsel took this picture when we were visiting Great Oma Allart, and he used my camera.

Here is quilt number EIGHT, for Xani.

It was ready in time for her 2nd birthday.

It does my heart good to see how excited she is for her special blanket.

She didn't lose any time waiting to sit down with her new baby on the blanket.

Cirrus decided that it was also a good time to lose one more of her front teeth.

School has started and the rat race began. Time seems to be running double or triple speed when school is in session. Thank goodness I have a great family to warm my heart!

More of August 2010

The local Article Circle hosts an antique car show during the summer. This year we took Cirrus and Crimsel.

Then we saw this sweet car.

The next thing we knew, the man who owned car asked Crimsel if he wanted to sit in the car! I think Opa wanted to sit in the car too.

During the summer they replaced the carpeting at school. Everything had to be moved out of the room, and then back. Good luck trying to remember what box everything went in. It is a pain trying to set up the whole room again.

Officially a Year Behind... Oh, My.... Here is August

How does someone get a year behind in blogging and how does one catch up?

Somewhere in the summer we had a family reunion with Keith's side of the family. We ate at Chuck-a-Rama, an all you can eat buffet. That way most people can get what they want.

Seated in the front is Uncle Larry, Keith's Mom's baby brother, and Aunt Donna, Keith's Mom's sister-in-law, married to the late Uncle Max. Next row, Keith, his sister Cecelia, Cousin Julie (Donna's daughter), Me, Alice (Richard's wife), Susan (Keith's sister), and cousin Linda (Aunt Opal's daughter). In the back is Rick or Richard, Keith's brother.

Well, We Ended Up in July

In July I had my annual Grand-daughter Tea Party. We decided to have a Dutch theme. Laura's mother was gracious enough to host it at her home. She set a beautiful table with the colors of the Dutch flag. We had open face sandwiches with Gouda Kaas (cheese), Geldegest Worst, (summer sausage), and of course Hagel Slaag, (chocolate sprinkles). My grand-daughters did me proud by showing their American Grandmas and Great Grandmas what to do with the Hagel Slaag.
